Plastic Injection

What is Plastic Injection? How is it done?

The manufacturing method carried out by melting plastic raw material at high temperature and injecting it into a mold is called plastic injection. The method of production by plastic injection is widely used in industrial areas. Many apart from the smallest part in life to the largest one are manufactured using plastic injection method.

Plastic injection process has been carried out in plastic injection machines since the early 1900s. Today, these machines work in integration with computer systems and produce using the latest technologies. Injection machines generally consist of vise, injection part and mold part.

The vice part is the part where the molten plastic raw material is compressed under pressure. This part is also the part that realizes the male-female harmony, which is considered as two parts of the mold. The injection stage takes place in the relevant part of the machine. The granular plastic raw material is located in the chamber in the injection unit. High with electrical heaters. The raw material that is brought to temperature is melted and pushed to the mold section in the vise section. This pushing process continues as the injection process when the raw material is melted into the mold to fill the mold and the mold is filled.

After the plastic material is injected into the mold and the mold is fully filled, it tries to escape from the entry point in the mold in the second phase. This may cause errors, dents, warping or unwanted deformations in the material. Holding pressure is applied after the injection pressure to prevent this movement. The application time of the pressure may vary depending on the nature of the raw material used, part sizes and weight.

The process of hardening of the molten raw material, which is completely filled in the mold and stabilized by holding pressure, is carried out by cooling process. After cooling, which is the last step of plastic injection application, the product can be taken out of the mold and put into use.

Generally, manufacturing companies take care to deliver the requested product flawlessly and flawlessly by applying processes such as deburring and correction on the ready-made product. Plastic injection applications are being used in an increasing technological infrastructure and allow different processes.
